The West Coast Wilderness Trail

This easy, Grade 2 cycleway is part of the New Zealand "Great Rides" network, making it one of the best (if not THE BEST) trails to ride in the country.

  • The trail stretches between Ross and Greymouth, winding through Hokitika and Kumara along the way.
  • Much of the trail follows historic logging and gold mining trails and you'll be rewarded with views of coastline, lakes, mountains, rainforest and wetlands. Look at our Hokitika map to get an idea of where it goes.
  • You can easily access the trail at many points, meaning you can do short trips or link them all together for an epic four day adventure.
