Christchurch - regeneration
Christchurch has been forced to rebuild after an earthquake in 2011 caused widespread damage. Now it is a vibrant, energetic city where urban regeneration and creativity thrive. There is amazing street art, innovative projects, a busy hospitality scene and state-of-the-art architecture combined with Christchurch's traditional English feel.

Driving from Christchurch to Hokitika via Arthur's Pass - 3.5 hours
Travelling from Christchurch to Hokitika via Highway 73 runs through Arthur's Pass National Park. It is incredibly scenic and only takes 3 1/2 hours.

There are daily flights from Christchurch to Hokitika with Air New Zealand. The view from the plane over the Southern Alps can be magnificent!

The Tranz Alpine Rail Journey
This Great Journey of New Zealand starts in Christchurch has been rated one of the top 10 train journeys in the world. The trip finishes in Greymouth where you can continue to Hokitika via public transport or rental car.
