Only an hour's drive from Hokitika, Arthur's Pass National Park is in the heart of the Southern Alps. It has an incredible diversity of flora and landscape with an interesting marriage of the beech clad hills and tussock valleys of the east with the luxuriant rain forest of the west. And you can't miss the resident kea there either!
Driving to Hokitika via Arthur's Pass - Travelling from Christchurch to Hokitika via Highway 73 runs through Arthur's Pass National Park. It is incredibly scenic and only takes 3 1/2 hours. Arthur's Pass is one hour from Hokitika.
