See & Do

Rimu | Woodstock

Rimu and Woodstock are just inland and on the South side of the Hokitika river.

  • A good half day tourist scenic drive is to head through Woodstock, stop at the Rimu Point Lookout, walk the treetops at Rimu and then head back to Hokitika via the coast and Lake Mahinapua.
  • A wonderful view can be had at Rimu Point Lookout overlooking the river and the surrounding mountains. A short walk there has information panels about the history of the area.
  • Woodstock also has great views of the Hokitika River. It is best known for being the location of the annual Woodstock Rally, a must on the NZ motorcycle rally circuit and key Hokitika event.
